[Introduction]

Chicago是我一直很喜歡的樂團，也算是我進入西洋音樂的敲門磚，因有位高中同學向我推薦了Chicago，所以我跑去中華商場陸續買了16、17、18、19這四張專輯卡帶，而這四張專輯正是Chicago的最高峰。

Chicago一直都是雙主唱，Peter Cetera、Bill Champlin是樂團靈魂，兩人唱腔和風格截然不同，第三位Robert Lamm的唱法更是獨特而慢，每張專輯總是會有一兩首歌是由他演繹。Peter Cetera在第17張專輯之後單飛了，Jason Scheff加入成為首席主唱，他的嗓音和Peter Cetera有點類似，都是清亮高亢型。

接連的16、17兩張專輯都很暢銷，也產出了好幾首經典歌曲，不可諱言Peter Cetera的出走帶來極大的影響，也不禁令歌迷憂心，18會不會走下坡？Jason Scheff是否扛得起Chicago這塊老招牌？結果，18、19的聲勢的確是稍稍下滑了，但金曲仍是一首接一首，尤其19裡的Look Away以兩周冠軍，拿下了1989年終排行的冠軍，Chicago的成績在這年達到最高峰，但卻再也沒能續創佳績，逐漸走入歷史。

Chicago 18中的”If She Would Have Been Faithful”，是我很喜歡的一首，原因是歌詞，尤其是第一、二段，Jason Scheff道地唱出了被背叛的傷感與失落。這首歌很有意思，我因為這首歌學了幾個單字和成語，a blessing in disguise、paradox等，都很常見也實用。
