[Introduction]

與Tears For Fears的相遇是個偶然意外。1989年間某日，逛進一間小唱片行，裡頭只有老闆、我和另一位顧客；我聽見顧客向老闆問起：「Tears For Fears的新專輯出了嗎？聽說要出了？」老闆：「還沒，還要等幾天…」顧客：「終於…整整等了4年！」

我在80年代末，才正式大量地接觸西洋流行音樂，那時乍聞”4年才出一張專輯”，真覺得不可思議，就留心上這個來自英國的偉大樂團，也隨即被他們這張專輯的怪奇樂風所吸引。後來往前追朔更早期的經典，才知道原來Tears For Fears的上一張專輯”Songs from the Big Chair”才是代表作，早已耳熟能詳的”Everybody Wants to Rule the World”、”Shout”分別在1985年的年終排名高居第7、21。

“Sowing the Seeds of Love”，講的是政治，說的是理念，如果人間有愛，如果能重視愛的力量、散播愛的種子…Anything is possible! 這段歌詞”Politician Granny with your high ideals. Have you no idea how the majority feels ?” 就顯淺易懂了，” Politician Granny”則是指稱當時英國首相柴契爾夫人。雖然歌詞涵義生硬些，但編曲豐富多元，主唱”Roland Orzabal”特殊的鼻音唱腔，再加上MV的拍攝手法前衛、色彩豐富，讓這首歌獨樹一幟，以非主流音樂類型創下了很好的排名。
