Billy Joel幾乎可算是我最喜愛的歌手，他的歌曲旋律好聽，偏搖滾，又有抒情、敘事詩的特色，而許多作品的歌詞寓意深遠。例如這首成名代表作”Piano Man”，就讓Piano Man成為了Billy Joel的稱號。其他諸如”Leningrad”、”We Didn’t Start the Fire”，也都是旋律好聽、歌詞饒富故事性和教育意味的經典。

“Piano Man”的鋼琴曲調真是棒，一位歌手這輩子能創作出這麼一首歌，真的就了無遺憾了；而歌詞像詩般優美，以第一人稱的酒吧鋼琴師，娓娓道來酒客們的故事、心聲，陳述這紛亂的世界。更難得的是，整首歌緊緊扣著“Piano Man”這個主題，好像電影一般，邊聽著歌曲，腦海中就浮現出歌曲裡的酒吧場景！

Billy Joel生於1949年，過幾年就70歲了，我想，可親臨他演唱會的機率越來越低，這卻是我的一個夢想。已查過2016年他只在美國和歐洲巡迴，希望來年他會有機會到亞洲來，即便是東南亞、大陸、日本，我想我會安排一個小旅行，朝聖他的演唱會。我其實只看過不到10場的演唱會，可見對於Billy Joel的推崇！
